Pilgrims Progress by John Bunyan

                                                      Ratings: 5/5 (on Goodreads)

Pilgrims Progress is a Christian Classic. It is written in a format of dream. The book is divided into two parts, first, the journey of Christian to the Celestial City from the City of Destruction and second, is the journey of Christiana, Christian's wife and his children's journey to the Celestial City from the City of Destruction.

The book starts with Christian meeting a guy named Evangelist who tells him that the place he is staying that is the City of Destruction is going to be destroyed and hence he have to leave this city and go to the Celestial City. Christian decides to travel to the Celestial City, because he wants to get rid of the burden that is there on his shoulders for years, and nobody could free him from it, when the Evangelist says that on his way to the Celestial City, there is a hill, where there is a cross, and when he reaches there the burden will fall by itself. The Evangelist directs him to the Celestial City,

Before leaving, he invites his wife and children to join him in his venture, but they hesitates. so he goes on his own. After many hardships he reaches the Celestial City along with his friend Hopeful, who joined him in between his pilgrimage.

After Christian reaches the Celestial City, his wife and his children regrets and repents for not going with Christian, that's when the Evangelist comes to Christiana and her children and gives them the invitation  and directs them to the Celestial City. So Christiana, her sons and Mercy, their neighbor starts their venture, and of course after facing many difficulties they reach their destination.

It's an amazing read. The thing that most intrigued me in this book is the names of people and places, for example: Hopeful, Faithful, Pliable, Vanity Fair etc.
