The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
The Night Circus is about a mysterious circus. Why is it mysterious? Because this circus arrives at a place unannounced and departs announced, one day it's there and the next day it's not. Also, another fact about this circus is that opens at dusk and closes at dawn. The circus has various tents for different acts such as illusionists, fortune-tellers, acrobats, contortionists, etc. But the catch is that this circus is the venue for a magical duel between two magicians Celia and Marco, who are just put into this duel without any choice of their own, without any knowledge of the game rules.
The first half of the book was more of world-building, I wouldn't say that I didn't enjoy that, but I really liked the second half better. My overall experience was really good with the book. I really loved the writing style, Erin Morgenstern's writing is unique, I don't know how else to put it, throughout the book, the circus was very real to me, and I always had this tingly feeling till I finished the book. One thing that I didn't like about this book is that it jumps through different timelines a lot, and if it was following just one character then it would have been manageable, but this jumped through different timelines for a number of characters, so in order to not get confused, I had to look up at the timelines on the previous chapters. That is the only reason I'm giving this book 4.5 stars than 5. This book has really short chapters. It's not beginner friendly as well.
